We're headed to Alabama and Georgia over the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday weekend. We'll be paying tribute to African American heritage by visiting many of the national parks associated with civil rights in the USA. We are flying into Atlanta, but we are actually spending most of our time in Alabama. The weather is expected to be chilly, as a cold front is moving through on Saturday evening. Thus, we've shifted our itinerary a bit to go even further south to the Florida panhandle, but it won't help too much. The wake-up temperature on Sunday morning on the Gulf cost will be in the 30s!

This will be our first trip after the holiday COVID surge, so there is a lot that could change or be cancelled at the last minute.

9:00am: Stop by the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce, as part of our visit to Freedom Riders National Monument [Anniston, AL]. Most of the inside attractions are closed, so we'll visit the outdoor historical markers.

10:30am: Visit the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, as part of our visit to the Birmingham Civil Rights National Monument [Birmingham, AL]. We have a timed ticket for 11:00am, but we hope to start earlier.

2:00pm: Stop by the Montgomery Interpretive Center [Montgomery, AL].

3:00pm: Visit Visit Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site [Tuskegee, AL].
